Typically, order turnaround time is around 8 weeks, with some slight variation depending on the season and supply chain.
……………………………………….
We do have the capability to “rush” an order and can deliver faster than our typical turnaround. If a rush order is something you’d require, please let us know.
……………………………………….
If you are hoping to create your wedding suit or tuxedo with us, we require beginning the process with more than 8 weeks to spare.
We recommend you be at a reasonably stable weight before scheduling a fitting. That being said, upon delivery and final fitting of your piece(s), we will take care of any fit alterations if needed.
We use a Bespoke Measuring process. We take many measurements to ensure that your custom or bespoke items fit the way you want. We also incorporate fittings in our experience.
Purchase Extra Trousers: Buy two pairs of trousers per suit, especially if you wear the suit frequently.
For every day of the week you wear a suit, own that many plus one. This rotation helps prevent wear and tear. For example, if you wear suits three days a week, start with four suits and add more each year.
Avoid Wearing in Cars: Remove your jacket before driving or riding in a car to prevent creasing.
Avoid using backpacks or bags with straps while wearing your jacket to prevent shoulder wear.
Dressing:Put on your socks before your trousers to avoid catching toenails on the pant seams or threads.
Proper Hanging: Hang your clothing properly between wears to maintain its shape and quality.
Only When Necessary
Dry-clean your suits, sport coats, and slacks only when absolutely necessary. If you’ve had a sweaty day or spilled something on your garment, it’s time to visit the dry-cleaner. Ensure that your dry cleaner has experience with custom-made garments as they require more delicate handling.
To keep your suit looking sharp, have it pressed to remove wrinkles and crisp up the creases in your pants. Between wears, hang your suit in the bathroom while running a hot shower; the steam can help relax any wrinkles.
Avoid Overloading: Avoid putting hands or carrying items like wallets, keys, or phones in your trouser pockets. Use the pockets provided in your jacket instead to prevent damage or tears in the fabric.
Gentle Wear for Wool: 100% wool fabrics are of higher quality and are more expensive than blends with synthetic fibers. They require gentle handling. A custom-made garment does not equate to increased durability; it needs as much, if not more, care than off-the-rack items.
Cleaning:
o Laundering vs. Dry-Cleaning: Laundering can prolong the life of your shirt but may cause quicker shrinkage. Dry-clean your shirts sparingly, as the chemicals used can be harsh over time. Avoid cleaning after every wear and request your dry-cleaner to use light starch, if any.
o Avoid Self-Washing: We do not recommend washing your shirts at home.
Care with Dry Cleaners: Discuss Button Care: Dry cleaners sometimes break buttons during the cleaning process. Our suit buttons, often made from mother of pearl or horn, are more delicate than plastic ones. Ensure your dry cleaner is cautious with your suit buttons as we may not be able to replace them if damaged.
This guide offers a starting point for caring for your custom clothing. Remember, the lifespan of your garments depends on how well you take care of them. While custom clothing is a significant investment, it’s not indestructible. Regular wear and tear, along with cleaning, will inevitably impact your garments.
Please note that once a garment has been worn, we cannot accept responsibility for issues like tears, stains, fabric pulls, or pilling, especially in high-pressure areas such as the inner thighs. We also do not take responsibility for any items lost or damaged during cleaning.
All clothing from The Total Image, Inc. should be treated with the utmost care. Expensive doesn’t mean indestructible, so handle your bespoke pieces with the respect they deserve.
If you are in the Greensboro, NC area, we recommend using A Cleaner World for you laundering, dry- cleaning, and pressing needs. Mention The Total Image, Inc. and Charles French.
